Dawn Robertson
Dawn Robertson is a leading figure in South Africa’s culture, heritage, tourism and urban innovation sectors. She currently serves as Tourism & Creative Economy Catalyst for Jozi My Jozi, a movement launched in 2023 to revitalize Johannesburg’s inner city through partnerships across public, private and community sectors.
In this role, Dawn leads the G20 Summit workstream under Jozi My Jozi, shaping how the city leverages this global event to boost Joburg’s image as Africa’s Creative Capital – spotlighting tourism, creative enterprise, investment, and inclusive development. She also stewards major visitor economy programmes such as #JoziMyJoziWalks, community-led walking tours across Joburg neighbourhoods blending heritage, food, art, local entrepreneurship, and citizen stories to change perceptions and promote inner-city pride.
Before joining Jozi My Jozi, Dawn was CEO of Constitution Hill, where she reimagined the precinct as a people-centred heritage and cultural hub. She also previously led the Gauteng Tourism Authority (2010-2015), managed the CreateSA initiative, and played a coordinating role in the Gauteng 2010 FIFA World Cup Technical Task Team. Her work consistently bridges government, heritage, arts & culture, and community development.
Dawn is known for her commitment to inclusive, place-led transformation: ensuring that heritage, public infrastructure, tourism, safety, education and creative expression come together to create vibrant urban experiences. She seeks to shift narratives, build civic pride, and unlock economic potential through social collaboration and creative innovation
