Creative Futures Africa Report

The inaugural Creative Futures Africa Summit, held in Johannesburg on 10 October 2025, brought together visionary leaders from across Africa’s creative and cultural industries (CCIs) to co-create a transformative agenda that positions the sector at the centre of the continent’s economic future. Hosted by Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) in partnership with Jozi My Jozi, the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA), Creative Capital, Andani.Africa, and a range of supporting partners, the summit was intentionally designed to inform international development agendas — including the G20 — as well as continental frameworks, with actionable recommendations for embedding creativity within multilateral development priorities.

This report synthesises insights from high-level summit discussions, positioning papers grounded in international best practice, and targeted desktop research. It offers fresh, Global South-driven perspectives on how multilateral cooperation can unlock the full potential of CCIs worldwide.
